About the California Avocado Festival ®
The California Avocado Festival would like to thank all who participated in the 2013 AVOFEST™! Your support through Sponsorship, volunteering, visiting or just coming to enjoy the delicious avocados is the force behind our efforts. As a 501c3 created to help support other service organizations, we rely on your continued enjoyment of our Festival. Thank you for continuing to come and eat, dance, shop and eat some more!
As we prepares for the 28th year, we look back to see what we did right in 2013. This past October we were again able to reach our goal of Zero Waste with the exceptional help of E.J. Harrison. This is the 2nd year in a row that the California Avocado Festival can boast Zero Waste! The team at E.J. Harrison has been a continued trusted Sponsor and partner through out the years and without their help, our green efforts would be hard to obtain. This is a strong testament to E.J. Harrison's commitment to their company motto, "Service is Everything." Thank you E.J. Harrison!
Here are some of the high standards that the California Avocado Festival holds to, allowing us to create a Green environment.
• The Festival is a No Styrofoam Zone
• Biodiesel is used for Festival Generators
• Boast a 100% Overall Diversion Rate! (2012)
• The Festival Honors the City's Ordinance on Outdoor Smoking
After the 2013 AVOFEST™, the Board of Directors made it possible for the Food Vendors to donate their unused and untouched foods to the local Santa Barbara Food Bank. We were moved by the final numbers and wanted to share them with you! there were 1252 Lbs. of food donated, and 876 Lbs. of that was avocados! Thank you to all our Food Vendors who participated in feeding the people that need it most in our community!
Our free doggie day care had over 150 dogs kept happy, cool, and entertained while their owners enjoyed the festival! We are committed to keeping dogs from being locked in their owners cars during the long hot days. The volunteers at Deserving Dogs Rescue and Rehabilitation group did a wonderful job!
We are not all business, The California Avocado Festival 2013 also rocked Carpinteria like never before! Again, we were one of the largest free music festivals in California with over 75 acts on four stages. Check out our last years line-up to see what fun you might have next year! Don't forget to put us in your music calendar for the first full weekend in October 2014!
Please join us in 2014! See you all then.
